Roll up! Roll up! Play bowls at Bristol St Andrews
The warm days have arrived, and a local bowls club is urging Bishopston and St Andrew’s residents to give the game a try at their annual open day.
Bristol St Andrews Bowling Club Open Day on Saturday, May 21st, 2-6pm, is aimed at all the family and will give everyone the chance to try out the game in a relaxed and fun way.
There will be help from club members as well as the bar being open for drinks and snacks.
Bowls is an easy sport to learn and is great for all ages. There are health benefits, mental health benefits and you can meet new friends.
The club plays friendly matches against teams from across Bristol all summer and beyond and for the competitive-minded, BSA fields teams in several leagues for men, women and mixed competition.
In the past 12 months, the growth of our women’s section means we compete in the Bristol area women’s league.
Bristol St Andrews is one of the top clubs in the Bristol region and members have worked hard to dramatically improve the facilities in recent years. This includes floodlights which enables play in October.
Club spokesperson Rich Coulter said: “Bowls really is one of the best sports to try if you have never played before. The basics are easy, but it can become quite addictive quite quickly!
“There are so many benefits to playing bowls – for your physical and mental health and to get your steps up, to meet new friends and to socialise and also for those who enjoy some keen competition.
“It’s a friendly club and we can’t wait to welcome you to our fun open day at the club on May 21st. All you need are some fairly flat shoes and yourself. We will provide help and everything else you need.”
The club is also available to let for local organisations and associations and we offer corporate events where firms can bring along their workforce to have a fun game and social event in our bar, where the prices are VERY competitive.
