Policeman in 'critical condition' after falling through garage roof

A POLICE officer has been critically injured whilst attempting to arrest a man in Redland earlier this morning.

PC Chris Hardaway, 26, suffered serious head injuries after falling through the roof of a Citroen garage on Hampton Road. 

He was on patrol with a colleague in the area when they noticed a man acting suspiciously. 

The police helicopter was called to help the search and reported a man was on the roof of the garage.

PC Hardaway climbed on top of the garage and began searching for the man but fell though the roof of the property.

He was taken to Frenchay Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The suspect is thought to have dark hair and was wearing dark clothing.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time who may have seen anything to help the police enquiries.
