Fun and festivities lined up for Gloucester Road Central
The festive period has begun and the Gloucester Road Central shops and businesses are planning a late night opening event to celebrate on Thursday 2 December. The shops will stay open until 8pm, spilling out onto the wide pavements with a range of delights.
During the evening Joe’s Bakery is offering free tasters of cakes and bakes and Paper Plane will have snowflake cutting for kids. Osna has invited the Gurt Lush Choir to sing outside their store from 6 - 7.30pm, following Irish dancing by a young British champion at 5.30pm. They'll be selling their famous mulled wine to raise funds for The Gurt Lush Choir's chosen charities.
Room 212 owner, Sarah Thorp says: “This is a great chance to browse all our art and gift shops. Come and sample Chocolatier's handmade chocolates, find eco-friendly rugs and cushions at Nola Interiors and Christmas cards, original art and jewellery at Room 212, Fig, Artigo and Paper Plane. Florists Rambling Rose, will have plant gift hampers and Christmas Wreath kits. Ask Catch the Moment about novel ways to use favourite photos for gifts or talk to Gloucester Road books about their recommendations by independent publishers. Room 212 has the popular Bristol Impressions calendars and Almanac Seasonal guide by local author Lia Leendertz.
“Preserve has invited Avon Wildlife Trust to have a stall so you can learn about how to become a member and save local wildlife. Sidney and Eden will be offering live music and a vast array of beers while Cafe Dream will be rustling up some winter warming nibbles. Billie Jean will be returning with her popular cashmere stall - she would love to say hello to all those who miss the shop she had here years ago.
“It’s a lovely opportunity to catch up with friends and neighbours and get into the Christmas spirit but please remember to maintain a safe distance and wear your mask inside if you are able. Gloucester Road Traders would like to give a huge thanks to all customers for their support this Christmas. Thanks also to the Shop Local Gloucester Road group for support and sharing useful information. It is so important that we shop locally to support independent businesses and our wonderful high street - Gloucester Road!
