Abseiling adventurers have put Southmead Hospital on course to hit its fundraising target of £50,000.
A magnificent £43.5K has been raised so far by 178 local people prepared to brave the height and step over the edge for their local hospital.
Joining them on the weekend of 11 - 12 September was Bishopston Voice publisher, Emma Cooper, who faced the challenge of abseiling 100 feet down the side of Southmead Hospital with her teenage daughter, Izzy.
Relaxing after her adrenaline-boosting experience, Emma said: “What a rush! Scaling down the side of Southmead Hospital is probably not on everyone’s bucket list, but it should be.
“Knowing that we are raising vital funds for our local hospital and showing our appreciation of the hard work throughout the pandemic was a good enough reason to step over the edge.
“Thank you to the patient instructors, Southmead Charity team and all our wonderful sponsors who have helped Southmead Hospital Charity raise much needed funds.”
Adrian Brown, corporate and community manager at Southmead Hospital Charity explained: “This is the third year that we have held the abseil at the hospital and it is always a fantastic event where everyone has a lot of fun while raising money for hospital projects that have a huge impact on improving healthcare locally.
“This is a truly unique fundraising feat, with amazing views of Bristol and all the way to the Severn Crossing.”
There is still time to donate and help Southmead Hospital Charity hit its £50K target. All amounts, however large or small, would be appreciated – please follow Emma Cooper below:
