BEAUTY students at City of Bristol College raised almost £290 for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent following a successful pamper evening.
Level 3 students based at the Ashley Down centre were initially set a work task to plan and pitch a fundraising event to tutor Sharon Sweet.
Mya Carstairs’ presentation won through and the 18-year-old was joined by fellow students in organising the pamper evening at the Inspire Ashley Down salons.
Tickets, including refreshments and free mini treatments in hair and beauty, were sold and more than 40 people, both regular and new clients, attended the event.
The students carried out various treatments, including hand, foot and Indian head massages, nail tidy, eyebrow waxing, haircuts and blow-drying, and a raffle was also held on the night.
Mya said: “Everyone who came said how nice it was to get a taster of treatments they hadn’t tried before. I would like to thank everyone for taking part and helping such an amazing charity.”
The Level 3 group have been involved in a variety of external charitable work this year, including helping Southmead Hospital and the Bristol Drugs Project.
Tutor Sharon added: “Mya chose CLIC Sargent because it was a children’s charity. The evening was a huge success and all the students worked professionally and as a team.”
