AMATEUR bakers are ‘kneaded’ for the Great Bristol Bake-off – an innovative charity fund-raiser and business networking contest.
Launched by 102 Cookery School at Nailsea Electrical in Bristol, it has already attracted the involvement of Michelin star chef Josh Eggleton, as well as the owner of Joe's Bakery, Martin Hunt, and owner of Cake, Abigail Smith  both located on Gloucester Road.
They will be joined on the judging panel by 102 Cookery School boss Giles Pushman and celebrated food critic, Mark Taylor.
And the finalists will be catering for 250 with a mass picnic at Eat Drink Bristol Fashion in May.
The not-for-profit initiative is being organised with Business in the Community and Giles says the aim is to promote large businesses and SMEs working together through healthy competition.
Mr Pushman said: "Our main aim is to support Bristol’s charity organisations, which is why we will be donating £100 from each entrance fee to Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital charity.
"It will be great fun and will tap into Bristol’s baking talent; it will give amateurs the chance to showcase their skills, enjoy the thrill of the contest as well as having healthy competition among the city’s businesses."
Prizes up-for-grabs include £1500 in cash and a host of Samsung goodies.
Each team will bake their signature bakes for a panel of judges with 25 teams selected for the semi-final which will see the bakers creating a cake and bread in allotted time.
A baker’s dozen – 13 – will then take part in the final at Eat Drink Bristol Fashion on May 8 when the finalists will create a picnic for 250 guests.
Mr Pushman added: "The £300 entry fee includes the donation to the Grand Appeal, a launch networking night, staging the final and all the ingredients.
"It will be great team building for businesses as colleagues support those who have entered and we’ll be able to see the wealth of talent across Bristol as people step forward to take up the challenge."
